낙품(樂品)

Susukhaṁ vata jīvāma, verinesu averino; Verinesu manussesu, viharāma averino.

Let us live happily then, not hating those who hate us! among men who hate us let us dwell free from hatred!

우리를 미워하는 자들을 미워하지 않으며 행복하게 살자! 우리를 미워하는 사람들 사이에서 증오 없이 지내자!

Susukhaṁ vata jīvāma, āturesu anāturā; Āturesu manussesu, viharāma anāturā.

Let us live happily then, free from ailments among the ailing! among men who are ailing let us dwell free from ailments!

병든 자들 가운데 병 없이 살아가며 행복하게 살자! 병든 자들 가운데 병 없이 지내자!

Susukhaṁ vata jīvāma, ussukesu anussukā; Ussukesu manussesu, viharāma anussukā.

Let us live happily then, free from greed among the greedy! among men who are greedy let us dwell free from greed!

탐하는 자들 가운데 탐심 없이 행복하게 살자! 탐하는 자들 가운데 탐심 없이 지내자!

Māravatthu Susukhaṁ vata jīvāma, yesaṁ no natthi kiñcanaṁ; Pītibhakkhā bhavissāma, devā ābhassarā yathā.

Let us live happily then, though we call nothing our own! We shall be like the bright gods, feeding on happiness!

아무것도 내 것이라 부르지 않으며 행복하게 살자! 우리는 빛나는 신들처럼, 행복을 양식으로 삼으리라!

Kosalaraññoparājayavatthu Jayaṁ veraṁ pasavati, dukkhaṁ seti parājito; Upasanto sukhaṁ seti, hitvā jayaparājayaṁ.

Victory breeds hatred, for the conquered is unhappy. He who has given up both victory and defeat, he, the contented, is happy.

승리는 증오를 낳는다. 패배한 자는 불행하기 때문이다. 승리와 패배를 모두 버린 이, 만족한 이가 행복하다.

Aññatarakuladārikāvatthu Natthi rāgasamo aggi, Natthi dosasamo kali; Natthi khandhasamā dukkhā, Natthi santiparaṁ sukhaṁ.

There is no fire like passion; there is no losing throw like hatred; there is no pain like this body; there is no happiness higher than rest.

욕망 같은 불이 없고, 증오 같은 패배가 없고, 이 몸 같은 고통이 없고, 평안보다 높은 행복이 없다.

Ekaupāsakavatthu Jighacchāparamā rogā, saṅkhāraparamā dukhā; Etaṁ ñatvā yathābhūtaṁ, nibbānaṁ paramaṁ sukhaṁ.

Hunger is the worst of diseases, the body the greatest of pains; if one knows this truly, that is Nirvana, the highest happiness.

굶주림은 병 중에 가장 나쁘고, 몸은 고통 중에 가장 크다. 이를 참으로 아는 이가 열반, 최고의 행복에 이른다.

Pasenadikosalavatthu Ārogyaparamā lābhā, Santuṭṭhiparamaṁ dhanaṁ; Vissāsaparamā ñāti, Nibbānaṁ paramaṁ sukhaṁ.

Health is the greatest of gifts, contentedness the best riches; trust is the best of relationships, Nirvana the highest happiness.

건강은 선물 중에 가장 크고, 만족은 재물 중에 가장 좋고, 신뢰는 관계 중에 가장 좋고, 열반은 행복 중에 가장 높다.

Tissattheravatthu Pavivekarasaṁ pitvā, rasaṁ upasamassa ca; Niddaro hoti nippāpo, dhammapītirasaṁ pivaṁ.

He who has tasted the sweetness of solitude and tranquillity, is free from fear and free from sin, while he tastes the sweetness of drinking in the law.

고독과 평온의 단맛을 맛본 이는, 법을 마시는 단맛을 맛보며 두려움도 없고 죄도 없다.

Sakkavatthu Sāhu dassanamariyānaṁ, sannivāso sadā sukho; Adassanena bālānaṁ, niccameva sukhī siyā.

The sight of the elect (Arya) is good, to live with them is always happiness; if a man does not see fools, he will be truly happy.

성인을 보는 것은 좋고, 그들과 사는 것은 언제나 행복이다. 어리석은 이를 보지 않는 이는 참으로 행복하리라.

Bālasaṅgatacārī hi, dīghamaddhāna socati; Dukkho bālehi saṁvāso, amitteneva sabbadā; Dhīro ca sukhasaṁvāso, ñātīnaṁva samāgamo.

He who walks in the company of fools suffers a long way; company with fools, as with an enemy, is always painful; company with the wise is pleasure, like meeting with kinsfolk.

어리석은 이들과 어울리는 이는 긴 길을 괴로워한다. 어리석은 이와의 사귐은 원수와 같아 언제나 괴롭다. 지혜로운 이와의 사귐은 친족을 만남 같아 즐겁다.

Tasmā hi— Dhīrañca paññañca bahussutañca, Dhorayhasīlaṁ vatavantamariyaṁ; Taṁ tādisaṁ sappurisaṁ sumedhaṁ, Bhajetha nakkhattapathaṁva candimā. Sukhavaggo pannarasamo.

Therefore, one ought to follow the wise, the intelligent, the learned, the much enduring, the dutiful, the elect; one ought to follow a good and wise man, as the moon follows the path of the stars.

그러므로 슬기롭고, 총명하고, 배우고, 많이 참고, 의무에 충실하고, 성인인 이를 따르라. 선하고 슬기로운 이를 따르라, 달이 별들의 길을 따르듯.
